“Commitment of the Lord”

Thought for Today: Commitment of the Lord

Have you ever wondered how some people just get to hear from the Lord on a daily basis? There are some people out there who have actually seen, experienced, and communicated with Him. There are those who can read the Word of God and know how to apply it to their lives.

In this season, the Lord will begin to reveal Himself to a certain group of people. I know this may sound strange, but not everyone will see, hear from, or experience Jesus.

The Word of God says in Jeremiah 29:13, “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” Listen to me, you can’t just look for the Lord when things are bad, or out of order in your life, or when the world, your flesh, and the devil come knocking on your door.

The Word of God says you will find Him when you look for Him with all your heart. In other words, you have to make a commitment to be one with the Lord; He must be first in your life. Your desire for Him must be above your family and above your own life. This is what Jesus meant in Luke 14:26 when He said, “If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea AND HIS OWN LIFE ALSO, he cannot be my disciple.”

You might not like what I am about to say, but I am more concerned about your soul than your feelings. The truth of the matter is this, The LORD will not commit Himself to those who will not commit themselves to Him. And only you and the Lord will know just how committed you are to getting to know Him better.

It’s one thing to say you are committed to the Lord, and it’s another thing to actually be committed to the Lord. The word “commitment” means being dedicated to a cause, or an obligation that restricts freedom of action.

Are you committed to the Lord? Is your life dedicated to doing whatever you can to get to know the Lord Jesus better? Is your life dedicated to getting to know the Lord to a point where it restricts you from doing what everybody else is doing? Is your commitment to the Lord pushing you to keep His word instead of keeping the words of the world, your flesh, or the devil? Is your life committed to getting to know the Lord to a point where, no matter what life looks like, no matter what life sounds like, and no matter what life feels like, you are committed to hold on to the Word, Spirit, and love of the Lord?

Some say, “I am committed to the Lord,” yet they only open the Word of God once a week. The Word of God says “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord and in His law doth he meditate day and night” (Psalm 1:1-2).

Some will say they are committed to the Lord, yet only pray at night before they go to bed. When the Word of God says that “men (women) ought to always pray (communicate with God) and not to faint” (Luke 18:1).

Some say they are committed to the Lord, yet they only praise and worship Him on Sundays. However, the Word of God says “I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth” (Psalm 34:1).

You can fool me, you can fool the pastor, and you can even fool yourself. But the truth of the matter is, you cannot fool God; He knows how committed you are to Him. The Word of God says, “Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature (don’t just look on the outward part) because I have refused him; for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, BUT THE LORD LOOKETH ON THE HEART” (1 Samuel 16:7).

God knows how committed you are to spending time in His Word, getting to know Him better. God knows how committed you are in your prayer life, and God knows just how much you are committed to giving Him praise and worship.

God will not commit Himself to you if you are not willing to truly commit yourself to Him. For it is written, “Now when he (Jesus) was in Jerusalem at the Passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. BUT JESUS DID NOT COMMIT HIMSELF UNTO THEM, because He knew all men” (John 2:23-24).

If you truly want to see, hear from, and experience God for yourself, show Him how committed you are to Him by reading His Word every day, praying (communicating with Him) every chance you get, and praise and worship Him in spirit and in truth. Once you do that, He will show you just how committed He is to blessing you with everything you need pertaining to life and Godliness.

“When God Gives You Strength”

Thought for Today: When God Gives You Strength

There are many times in life where you ask God to give you the strength to get through a certain situation in your life.  As a matter of fact, you are going through something right now that has you feeling weak. You may be weak in your finances, marriage, health, or in your mental stability.  You may be having thoughts about giving up, and somebody who is reading this has already made the decision to quit.

You asked God for answers, direction, and strength, but the enemy is asking you where the strength of God is in your life. The Word of God says “For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And He (the Lord) said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee; for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore, I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproach, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake; for when I AM WEAK THEN AM I STRONG” (2 Corinthians 12:8-10).

Listen to me, if you are reading this, if you are still breathing, if you are still fighting, if you are still holding on then remember that God is not giving you strength, He is your strength. He is the only reason the enemy can’t destroy you. He is the only reason that you are alive right now. Whatever it is that you are going through, I want you to just begin to praise God.

I know it sounds crazy, but put on some worship music and begin to praise God. I know you don’t feel like it and you don’t think it will help, but the Word of God says “Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered; let them also that hate him flee before him. As smoke is driven away so drive them away as wax melteth before the fire so let the wicked perish at the presence of God But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God; yea let them exceedingly rejoice” (Psalm 68:1-3)

I will let you in on a secret, when God does give you strength, it’s not for what you are going through or what you went through, the strength He gives you is for what the world, the flesh, and the devil throw at you next.

This is the example that Jesus, Himself, left us when He was in the desert for 40 days and 40 nights with no food or water and the devil came and tempted Him. The Word of God says in Matthew 4:11, “Then the devil leaveth him, and behold angels came and ministered unto him.”

As Jesus spoke, it is written that the words of the Father were His strength. And when the devil left from tempting Him, then the angels came and ministered unto Him. Not for what He went through, but to prepare Him for what was coming up next in His life.

Right there in the midst of your mess, trials, tribulations, heartaches, and pain, right there in the midst of all the hell that is breaking out in your life, God is not giving you strength because He is your strength.

If you want to see the power, glory, and wonders of God then you must begin to just praise Him right where you are at. You may look crazy, those around you may think that you have lost it, but when you begin to praise God the Holy Spirit begins to arise from the throne of your heart, and you will see Psalm 68:1 manifest right before your eyes. Let God arise and let His enemies be scattered. Fear will begin to leave as you praise God; doubt and unbelief will begin to leave as your praise; frustration, anger, and confusion will begin to leave. Not because of you, but because of the God in you. “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them; because Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4).

Now this God is your strength in the midst of an attack from the world, and when God does give you strength it is to prepare you for what’s next for your life.

For it is written: “And He (Jesus) was withdrawn from them about stones cast and kneeled down and prayed. Saying Father if thou be willing, remove this cup from me (I don’t think I can do this) nevertheless not my will but thine be done. And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him (preparing him for what was next)” (Luke 22:41-43).

Praise God in the midst of whatever battle you are in right now, knowing that He is your strength. And know that when God does give you strength, when God does send His angels to minister to you, it is to prepare you for the next step in your life for the kingdom of God.

“Stay with Jesus”

Thought for Today: Stay with Jesus

In these last days there are going to be things that happen in your life that will pull you in a million directions. The world will have its own opinions of how you should do things, your flesh will flood your heart, mind and soul with all the different suggestions that are available, and the devil will open a floodgate of ideas that may seem right for everything you are going through in life.

I don’t know who I am talking to today, but I came by on my way to heaven with a message from on high that you need to STAY WITH JESUS. For the Word of God says, “Looking unto Jesus the author and the finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross despising the shame and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:2).

The reason the world, your flesh, and the devil want you to follow their suggestions is simply because if you follow their directions, you will have no chance of winning or making it through the situation.

The world, your flesh, and the devil have no idea how you feel, what you are going through, or the stress that the situation has brought upon your life. But there is One who knows exactly how you feel; His name is Jesus. He knows what it’s like to be lied to, He knows what it’s like to lose a loved one, He knows what it’s like to be betrayed by a friend, He knows what it’s like to go without, He knows what it’s like to be persecuted, hated, ridiculed and mocked.

As a matter of fact, everything that you are experiencing, Jesus himself has not only experienced it, but He has gone through it and conquered it without stepping out of the will of God the Father. “How do you know that Pastor, Erick?” For the Word of God says, “For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin” (Hebrews 4:15).

I know you may be thinking “Wait a minute, Pastor Erick, Jesus did not have the issues and the things that we are tempted with today.” Let me open the eyes of your understanding. The enemy wants you to get caught up in the details of sin. They want you to think there is “big sin” and “little sin.” However, God is not concerned with the details of sin, simply because there is no “big sin,” and there is no “little sin.” In the eyes of God the Father, sin is sin. If you get drunk but don’t curse, it’s still a sin. If you don’t curse but lie, it’s still a sin. If you don’t lie but steal, it’s still a sin. God is not concerned with the details of sins, but He is concerned with the points of sin.

As you just read in Hebrews 4:15, Jesus was tempted in all points. There are only three points where sin can enter in your life. Those points are found in 1 John 2:16, “For all that is in the world (everything on how the world deals with life) the 1. LUST OF THE FLESH. 2 AND THE LUST OF THE EYES, 3 AND THE PRIDE OF LIFE is not of the Father but is of the world.”

The world wants you to deal with whatever it is you are going through by THE LUST OF THE FLESH. They want you to deal with your situation based on how you feel, but Jesus’ way of dealing with it is found in Galatians 5:24, “And they that are Christs’ have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. As a child of God, you can’t deal with this situation by what you feel. You have to trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.” The world would love for you to make your decision based on what the situation looks like, LUST OF THE EYES, but the Word of God says, “For we walk by faith, and not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). The enemy would love for you to show everyone around you that you know what you are doing, THE PRIDE OF LIFE, but the Word of God says “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God that He may exalt you in due time” (1 Peter 5:6).

What I am trying to tell you is that if you STAY WITH JESUS, by doing your best to live your life according to the Word of God which is the KINGDOM OF GOD (God’s way of doing things), God will give you the power, ability, strength, understanding, patience, grace and mercy to get through whatever temptations come your way.

For it is written, “Ye are they which have continued with me (STAYED WITH ME) in my temptations, And I appoint unto you (I give you) a kingdom as my Father hath appointed unto me (God’s way of doing things) and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel (I give you a position of authority over the world, your flesh, and the devil)” (Luke 22:28-30).

JESUS will give you everything you need to withstand the points of sin which are the LUST OF THE FLESH, THE LUST OF THE EYES, AND THE PRIDE OF LIFE. Stay with JESUS every day of your life and walk in victory instead of defeat.

“God’s Promises Now & Later”

Thought for Today: God’s Promises Now & Later

As you get older in life, and as you continue to give your all to God, you will begin to hear a deceiving word. Since the enemy could not convince you that God is not real, and could not pull you away from striving to know God better, he will begin to agree that God will keep His promise. He will begin to tell you that the promises of God are real, and they are for you.

But where he deceives so many of God’s children is he begins to tell them that they will get all the promises of God in the sweet by and by. And with this partial truth, many of God’s children are living their lives so that they can get all the promises of God when they go to heaven.

You know that when you get to heaven everything will be alright, you will no longer have to worry or fear, there will be no more sickness, no more stress, and no more lies or deception. You are living this life so that you can receive all the promises of God when you get to heaven.

I don’t know who I am talking to, but you have been deceived, just like the devil attempted to deceive Jesus with partial spoken truth in Luke 4:9-10, “And he (the devil) brought Him (Jesus) to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple and said unto him, if thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence; For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee; And in their hands they shall bear thee up lest at an time thou dash thy foot against a stone. And Jesus answering him said, it is said thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.”

The devil will tell you partial truths to get you to step out of the will of God. The devil quoted verse 11 and 12 part of Psalm 91 to Jesus, but what he conveniently left out was verse 9 which says Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High thy habitation. Which means when you are one with God there shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

The same way the enemy attempted to lure Jesus out of the will of God, he is attempting to lure you out of all the promises of God in the here and now. The orWd of God says in Psalm 27:13, “I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”

You do not have to wait until you get to heaven to receive all the promises of God. The devil is a liar. The Word of God says “According as his divine power hath given unto us (that means it’s already done) all things pertaining to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue; Whereby are GIVEN UNTO US (again, past tense, it’s already done) exceeding great and precious promises; that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust” (2 Peter 1:3-4).

Listen to me, you do not have to wait until the sweet by and by to receive the promises of God. You need to begin expecting and anticipating the promises of God in the here and now. And the only way to expect and anticipate the promises of God is that you have to know what God promised you.

God promised that He would never leave you nor forsake you. God promised that He did not give you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. God promises that He is the one that gives you the power to get wealth. God promised that no weapon that is formed against you will prosper. God promised that anything you ask, according to His will, it shall be done. God promised that He gave you power over all the power of the enemy and nothing, by any means, shall hurt you.

And, when you gave your life to Jesus, God promised you that His Holy Spirit will begin to conform you into the image of Jesus. I will say it again, you don’t have to wait until you get to heaven to experience all the promises that God made to you in His word. You can expect and anticipate them right here in the land of the living.

For it is written, “Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee. And he (Jesus) said unto them (this means you, too), Verily I say unto you, There is no man (woman) that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children for the kingdom of God’s sake (there is no one who gave their life to Jesus)  Who shall not receive manifold more IN THIS PRESENT TIME (NOW) and IN THE WORLD TO COME LIFE EVERLASTING  (and late in the sweet by and by)” (Luke 18:28-30).

Don’t be deceived by the world, your flesh, or the devil by just living your life to receive the promises of God later when you get to heaven. You can expect, anticipate, and know that you can get the promises of God not only later when you get to heaven, but you can receive them here and now in the land of the living. Grab the Word of God and find out, speak, and meditate on the promises of God and watch them begin to manifest in your life. For when you give your all to God, it is then that you can receive all that God has promised you.

Be Blessed.
