“Serve Without Charging”

Thought for Today: Serve Without Charging

In the last few years,  the church has looked to get patted on the back and praised by those they helped for the work that was done for and in the kingdom of God.

If they prayed, they wanted to be acknowledged for prayer. If they worshiped, they wanted to be known for their worship. If they gave in any capacity to anybody, be it help sitting folks in chairs, making flyers, passing out food, helping in this area of the church or that area of the church, they wanted to be acknowledged for what was done.

I say to you, they have their reward. The church that Jesus said that He would build is arising. And every member of His church will SERVE WITHOUT CHARGING. “What does that mean, Pastor Erick?”

It means those who are truly a part of the body of Christ will serve God because they want to and not because they have to. And because of this mindset, the church will not look for a reward for what it does or for what it is doing in the community.

You might not like what I am about to say but it’s the truth; Forgiveness was a gift given to you by God. Grace and mercy were given to you by God. Another chance in life was given to you by God. Power and authority were given to you by God. Knowledge and wisdom and understanding were given to you by God.

“What does any of that have to do with serving without charging, Pastor Erick?” Jesus said it this way in Matthew 10:8, “FREELY YE HAVE RECEIVED FREELY YOU GIVE.”

The devil wants you to receive something from those that God used you to share what He has given you freely. He wants this for two reasons, 1) If you give freely (whatever it is that God has given you) it will cause those that you give to to thank God and want to get to know Him for themselves, and the devil can’t have that.  2) If God uses you to give anything that He has given you, the Lord Himself will reward you, as seen in Matthew 16:27, “For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then HE SHALL REWARD EVERY MAN (WOMAN) ACCORDING TO HIS (HER) WORKS.”

I don’t know who I am talking to, but God freely forgave you, now you must forgive that person with the same stipulation that God gave you with NO CHARGE. God showed you mercy, and you must show mercy to that individual with the same stipulation that God gave you with NO CHARGE. God gave you grace, showed you kindness, gentleness, compassion, and gives you chance after chance, and you must give those around you that which God gave you with the same stipulation with NO CHARGE.

If they appreciate it, if they thank you, if they acknowledge what you have done, hallelujah! But if they don’t, then shake the dust off your feet and move on. Simply because you gave with the same stipulation that was given to you by God. NO CHARGE.

Many will begin to come to Christ when the body of Christ gives like He gave, with NO CHARGE.

For it is written, “For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God. While by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the Gospel of Christ and for your liberal distribution unto them and unto all men” (2 Corinthians 9:12-13).

Serve God from the heart and whatever you do, in and for the kingdom of God, do it with the same stipulation that God showed you when he handed you all those things with NO CHARGE. AND THE WORLD WILL BEGIN TO SEE THE Church that Jesus Christ said He is building, and many will run to it. And the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Be Blessed

“The Promised Gift from God”

Thought for Today: The Promised Gift from God

There is a gift from God that is available to any person who has accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. And the beauty of this gift is that, although everyone who is a child of God is able to receive this same gift, this gift from God manifests or reveals itself differently to each person.

Sometimes this gift shows up as wisdom, sometimes this gift reveals itself as understanding, sometimes this gift shows up as power and authority, and there may be times when this gift manifests itself as love, grace and/or mercy, strength and/or courage.

This gift from God will enable the child of God to do things that normal people just can’t do. This gift that I am speaking of is a promise from God to the ones who truly believe in Jesus the Christ, the Son of the living God.

Jesus spoke of this promise in Luke 24:49, which says, “And behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you; but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.” I believe that the church that Jesus said he would build, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it, in Matthew 16:18 is being pulled together in these last days.

Denominationalism can no longer hinder the Church that Jesus is building, tradition can no longer hold back the church that Jesus is building. Racism, hatred, bigotry, fear, confusion and unbelief is being pushed out of the way as Jesus the Christ is building (bringing together) the body of Christ.

For the word of God says, “For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many are one body; so also, is Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, where we be Jews, or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member but many” (1 Corinthians 12:12-14).

Let me ask you a question: have you received the promised gift of God? And I know you may be thinking “Pastor Erick, I have received a lot from God since I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior. What promise are you talking about?” This promised gift of God is not spoken of in many services. It is found in John 20:22, “And when He (Jesus the Christ) said this he breathed on them and saith unto them, RECEIVE YE THE HOLY GHOST.”

Have you received the Holy Spirit of God, which is the promise of God to anyone who accepts Jesus the Christ as their Lord and Savior? In other words, have you accepted, acquired, apprehended, inherited, secured, taken in, gathered, latched on to, and taken possession of the fact that the Holy Spirit of God, the gift of God, now dwells in you? Have you invited the Holy Spirit of God into your life? Such as I have, my brothers and sisters, in the name of Jesus receive ye the Holy Spirit.

Now, I want you to repeat after me, “Father, I accept Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior. You said that I would receive Your promised gift after I have accepted Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior, I am now open to receive your promised gift. I RECEIVE YOU, Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit of God, fill my heart, fill my mind, fill my body, and fill my spirit and my soul. I know that you are a gift from God. I can’t earn you, I can’t make you, and I can’t purchase you, but you are a gift to me from my Father in heaven. I receive you, Holy Spirit of God.” Now just sit for a moment in silence.

For it is written, “Who when they were come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Ghost; For as yet he was fallen upon none of them only, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus, Then laid they their hands on them and they received the Holy Ghost” (Acts 15-17).

If you truly received the Holy Spirit of God, the promised gift of God, your life will never be the same. Get ready, because God is going to blow your mind.

“It Might As Well Be You”

Thought for Today: It Might As Well Be You

In these last days there is a division arising. This division is not of the world, the flesh, or the devil. In these last days the division is between those who SAY they are believers in the Lord Jesus Christ and those who ARE believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. When a person says they believe the word of God and they believe the gospel of Jesus Christ, what they are saying is they rely on, trust in, adhere to, and live by the word of God.

The reason why the division is coming upon the land is because of a parable that Jesus spoke about in Matthew 13:24-30, which says “The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field. But while men slept his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. But when the blade was spring up and brought forth fruit then appeared the tares also. So, the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? From whence then hath it tares? He said unto them an enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him wilt thou that we go and gather them? But he said nay lest while ye gather up the tares ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, gather ye together first the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them but gather the wheat into my barn.”

The true word of God has been planted into the hearts of many people this season, and I hear the voice of the Holy Spirit say that the harvest is near. The word of God will begin to manifest in the hearts of those who truly believe with signs and wonders. And I say to you my brother, I say to you my sister, IT MIGHT AS WELL BE YOU.

For the word of God says in Acts 2:22, “Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know.” Again, in Acts 14:3, “Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.”

Acts 4:30 says, “By stretching forth thine hand to heal and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of the Holy Child Jesus.” In Mark 16:17-19 it says, “And these signs shall follow them that believer; in my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents and if they drink any deadly things. It shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven and sat on the right hand of God.”

I don’t know who I am talking to, but the true word of God is being spoken and whoever receives this spoken word and truly believes, relies on, trusts in, adheres to, and lives by this spoken word, miracles signs and wonders will begin to manifest in their lives. And I say to you again, IT MIGHT AS WELL BE YOU.

God has not changed, He is the same today, yesterday, and forever more. He is still making a way out of no way, He is still opening the eyes of the blind, He is still making the mute talk and the lame walk.  He is still the provider, protector, and lover of your soul. And He is still making His word come to pass with all kinds of miracles, signs, and wonders to anyone who would not just say they believe, but to those who truly trust in, rely on, adhere to, depend on, and live by the spoken word of God. IT MIGHT AS WELL BE YOU.

Expect God to do something amazing in your life, because expectation is the breeding ground for miracles, signs, and wonders. And in this season, God is revealing the true believers in Jesus with all kinds of miracles, signs, and wonders. I will say it again, IT MIGHT AS WELL BE YOU.

Everybody is hearing the same word of truth, but not everybody will receive the word of truth.

For it is written, “Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold and said IT WAS NECESSARY THAT THE WORD OF GOD SHOULD FIRST HAVE BEEN SPOKEN TO YOU; but seeing ye put it from you and judge for yourselves unto worthy of everlasting life, lo we turn to the Gentiles. For so hath the Lord commanded us saying I have set thee to be light of the Gentiles that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth. And when the Gentiles heard this (THE WORD OF TRUTH) they were glad and GLORIFIED THE WORD OF THE LORD and many as were ordained to eternal life believed” (Acts 13:46-48).

In these last days God is revealing Himself to those who truly believe in His word with miracles signs and wonders, and it MIGHT AS WELL BE YOU that God reveals Himself to. Believe in the word of God and watch God show up in amazing ways.

“They Are Not Fighting You”

Thought for Today: They Are Not Fighting You

As you do all that you can to live a life that is pleasing to God, it seems like the world, your flesh, and the devil is fighting you on every end. You know that God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints (1 Corinthians 14:13). However, the enemy seems like he brings confusion your way every chance he gets just to fight you.

You know that God does not give us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). But the enemy of your soul seems to always bring up fearful situations just to fight you.

It seems like the devil shows up out of nowhere to pick a fight with you just to ruin your day, even though you know “There is nothing hid (from God) which shall not be manifested; neither was anything kept secret but that it should come abroad” (Mark 4:22).

The enemy of your soul continues to bring up the past things you did before you got saved, attempting to get you to fight your past, but God said “Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert” (Isaiah 43:19).

I don’t know who I am talking to, but you are sitting there wondering “Why is the devil always fighting me? Why does is seem like everything and everybody is against me?” And the Holy Spirit of God says to you that they are not fighting you, they are fighting HIM. I know you are probably thinking “Well it sure feels like I am taking all the blows from the devil, it sure seems like everybody is against me.”

Listen to me, you are a child of the most high God, you cannot live your life by what you feel, you must live your life by what you know to be true. The word of God says “We must Walk (live our lives) in the Spirit and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh” (Galatians 5:16).

Jesus prayed that God would set you apart from everybody else in the world, those who do not believe that Jesus is Lord to the glory of God the Father.

When you made the decision to do all you can to stand on what God says about any situation in your life, you made the decision to stand on the truth. For Jesus said, “Sanctify them through thy truth; THY WORD IS TRUTH.” When you stand on the word of God (when you do your best to live your life according to what the word of God says) the enemy of your soul is not fighting you, they are fighting the word of God in you.

And if they are fighting the word of God, they are fighting God. You may be asking, “How do you know that, Pastor Erick?”

Here, let me show you John 1:1 which says, “In the beginning was the WORD and the WORD was with GOD (and look what this says next) AND THE WORD WAS GOD.” I know it feels like THEY ARE FIGHTING YOU, but the truth of the matter is that they are fighting AGAINST God in you, simply because you choose to stand on God’s word.

When you understand this truth, burdens will begin to lift off you, fear will begin to flee, and confusion will become unraveled simply because of this one truth God himself said, “So shall MY WORD be that goeth forth out of my mouth; it shall not return unto me void; but it shall accomplish that which I please and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11).

Whatever you are going through today, grab the word of God and say what God said about that situation. And the devil is whispering in someone’s ear right now saying “You don’t know the word of God like that. You don’t know where to look to find the answers.” Listen to me, this may sound crazy but Google it. You Google everything else, why don’t you Google what the word of God says about that situation, and then stand on what the word of God says? “How do I stand on the word of God, Pastor Erick?” It’s very simple, find out what God says and say what God said. Just keep repeating what God said about that circumstance.

I know it sounds too easy, I know you may look crazy, I know it will feel foolish, but when you simply say what God says your enemies won’t be fighting you, THEY will be fighting GOD.

For it is written, “And now I say unto you, refrain from these men and let them alone; for if this counsel, or this work be of men, it shall come to naught (it won’t last and it won’t accomplish anything) But if it be of God ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to FIGHT AGAINST GOD.”

The battle is not yours, it’s the Lord’s. Say what God said and let Him take care of the rest.
