“God Asks You A Question”

Thought for Today; When God Asks You A Question

In this season of your life there are many questions being asked of you. “When will you do this? How will you do that? Can you go here? Will you be there? How can this be? How will you ever reach this? Who will help you get there?”

When it’s you questioning yourself, it is something that you have learned to deal with. But as others begin to question you, that is when you begin to become unglued, especially when they know you are a child of God.

You don’t mind them questioning you, but when they begin to question your faith when they do not even have any faith, when they begin to question your relationship with God when they don’t even know God for themselves, it is then that anger rises in you and you begin to argue and fight with them. Because, not only did they question you, but they lost their mind when they began to question your God.

Listen to me, when you begin to fight them on God’s behalf that is when they’ve got you right where they want you. God does not need you to fight for Him. He is God and He can take care of Himself. The real question is, why did the questioning bother you so much?

There is something within you that has disrupted your relationship with God, and the Holy Spirit of God is asking you the question today, “WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU?” Now, before you begin to try to answer this question you must understand this truth, God does not ever ask you a question that He does not already know the answer to.

When God asks you a question, it is something totally different than when you question yourself. When God asks you a question, it is different from when other people ask you a question. Because, when you question yourself, or when others question you, most of the time you don’t have the answer and they don’t have the answer either.

When God asked Adam “Where are you?” in Genesis 3:9, God knew exactly where Adam was. When God asked Adam in Genesis 11, “Who told thee that thou wast naked?” God knew exactly where Adam got the knowledge of his nakedness. When God asked Adam “Have you eaten of the tee, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?” God knew exactly what Adam and Eve had done.

“Then why did God ask them the question, Brother Erick, if He already knew the answer?” God asks humanity questions for two reasons, one to reveal to humanity what’s hidden deep in the heart of man, and two is to open up a dialog with humanity.

You see, after the fall of man, humanity has its idea of what, how, when and where. Then there is God’s idea of what, how, when and where. For the word of God says in Isaiah 55:8-9, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than yours.”

In the theater of your mind, you have an idea of how you think God is going to fix your problem, and answer your prayers. You have an idea of the what, how, when and the where of God.

But I came to remind you “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man (woman) but the end thereof are the ways of death” (Proverbs 14:12).

God is asking you a question; “How do you think I will respond? How do you think I will answer you? What do you think I will do in this situation that you are in? When do you think I will answer your prayers? Who do you think I will use to help you get out of this mess that you are in?”

You must know that God is not asking you these questions because He does not already know the answer. He is asking you these questions because He wants to show you the ideas and plans that are hidden in your heart. He wants to open up a conversation with you to hear your heart so that you can also hear His heart.

For it is written, “When Jesus then lifted up his eyes and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip. Whence shall we buy bread that these may eat? (He asked Philip a question) And this he said to prove him; for he himself knew what he would do” (John 6:5-6).

God is asking you a question today, not because He does not already know the answer but, because He wants to show you the thoughts of your heart and He wants to open up a conversation with you to reveal to you His heart towards you and your situation. Sit down and have a conversation with God today.

Be blessed

“For Yourself”

Thought for Today: For Yourself

As you seek a deeper relationship with God, it seems like the more you try to get to know God the harder it gets. It seems like all hell now breaks loose when you get up to go to church, nothing goes your way when you try to go to bible study, when you try to sit down and read the Word of God everything tries to prevent you from reading happens, and it seems like every time you want to take time to pray it seems like something always comes up.

And you are asking yourself “Why is this so hard? Why does it take so much for me to get up and go to church every Sunday? Why is it so hard to read the Word of God? Why is it so hard to get to know God better?”

You feel like it’s just too hard, too much, and it is beginning to stress you out to a point where you really don’t feel like doing anything when it comes to getting to know God better. You think, “My life was not this stressed out before I tried to make this change. What is going on? It should not be this difficult to get to know God better.”

And the Spirit of the Lord says to you, “The enemy of your soul put up with you getting to know me through other people’s relationships with me. But the last thing the enemy wants is for you to get to know me FOR YOURSELF. For when you experience me FOR YOURSELF the control that the world, your flesh, and the devil had on you will begin to disappear. For, so long as long as you based your relationship with Me on others, the enemy could keep you blinded from what it truly means to experience Me. The enemy wanted you to be satisfied with hearing My words through the preacher and not hearing My voice FOR YOURSELF.”

The enemy would rather you have the pastor pray for you than you pray FOR YOURSELF. The enemy would rather you see God’s miracle working powers on other people’s lives than for you to experience His miracle working powers FOR YOURSELF. The enemy would rather you sit in a worship service and see everybody else worship, rather than you experiencing pure worship FOR YOURSELF.

You see, as long as you see, hear, know, and/or experience the LORD through the eyes of others, there will always be a doorway for the enemy to come into your life and attempt to show and tell you otherwise. But, the minute you begin to read the word of God FOR YOURSELF, when you begin to pray to God the Father FOR YOURSELF, when you begin to experience the grace and the peace of God FOR YOURSELF, when you begin to hear the voice of God FOR YOURSELF, and when you begin to experience the Love of God FOR YOURSELF then “no weapon formed against you” takes on a whole new meaning. When you begin to know God FOR YOURSELF, “I can do all things through Christ” fits differently in your life. When you begin to experience the wisdom, power, and understanding of who God is FOR YOURSELF, “the battle is not mine, it’s the Lord’s” begins to flood your mind instead of you fighting a fight that is not yours.

Listen to me, if you are struggling to get to church every Sunday, if it’s a hassle to get to Bible study, if you are struggling to spend time in the word of God, if you are struggling in your prayer life, if you are struggling to worship God in spirit and in truth then it is not because you are doing anything wrong; the struggle is because the devil does not want you to experience God for yourself.

God did not put the pastor, preachers, and teachers in your life so that you can have a relationship with Him through them. He placed them in your life to show you and push you into your own personal relationship with God.

Don’t stop going to church, don’t stop going to Bible study, don’t stop reading the word of God, and don’t stop praying, because that’s just what the devil wants so that you cannot, or will not, ever experience God FOR YOURSELF.

For it is written, “So when the Samaritans were come unto him (Jesus) they besought him that he would tarry with them, and he abode there two days. And many more believed because of His own word; And said unto the women. Now we believe, not because of thy saying, FOR WE HAVE HEARD HIM OURSELVES, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world” (John 4:40-42).

God wants you to have a personal relationship with Him and He wants you to get to know Him (have an intimate relationship with Him) FOR YOURSELF. Keep reading, keep praying, keep worshipping God in spirit and in truth and watch the glory of God fill your life.

Be Blessed

“Listen Long Enough”

Thought for Today: LISTEN LONG ENOUGH

There is a battle in the land, as you well know the battle is between good and evil. And the enemy wants you to believe that’s all there is, but I have been instructed to warn you that this battle is not just between good and evil. There is a reason why good and evil are at war.

Jesus said it this way “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Matthew 16:26). You see, when God created you, He gave you the ability to make your own decisions. For the word of God says, “And the LORD God formed man in the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; AND MAN BECAME A LIVING SOUL” (Genesis 2:7).

God did not make you like a robot for you to just do what He tells you to do. He gave you free will to make your own decision; He created you to be His and He is yours. Just like the book of Song of Solomon mentions in verse 2:16, “My beloved is mine, and I am his.”

Your soul (which is your decision-making capabilities) belongs to God. He created you, He knows what is best for you because He is all knowing, all seeing, everywhere at all times. The battle between good and evil is for the souls of humanity. “How do I know my soul (my decision-making capabilities) belong to God, Pastor Erick?” Ezekiel 18:4 says, “Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine; the soul that sinneth it shall die.”

God is saying your soul should only be influenced by Him since He created you. If your soul is influenced by anything or anyone else, your soul will die. When a person dies their spirit is separated from their body. So, as the same in the spirit, when your soul dies it is separated from God.

This fight between good and evil is more serious than just killing, stealing, lying, cheating, fornicating, cursing, drunkenness, deception, adultery, unforgiveness, hatred, racism and all other sins. The war between good and evil is for your soul.

The one that you listen to the most will be the one that influences you the most. And the one that influences you the most will be the one who will win your soul. And I came by on my way to heaven to warn you that, if you listen to your feelings long enough, your feelings will control your soul instead of God.  If you listen to the world long enough, the world will influence and control your soul instead of God. And, if you listen to the devil’s lies about what you can and cannot do, the devil will influence and control your soul instead of God.

The Word of God says in 1 Peter 5:8, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil as a roaring lion, walketh about seeking whom he may devour.” If you listen to the world, your flesh, or the devil long enough they will influence you to make decisions about your life that do not line up with God’s plans for your life.

God said, “For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end” (Jeremiah 29:11). God is saying to you that, since He is your creator He knows everything about you, and He wants to be the one who influences your decision making. He wants to be the one who influences your thought process since He created your mind. He wants to be the one that holds your heart since He created it. And He wants to be the one who influences your soul since He is the one that gave you a soul. If you listen to Him long enough, He will hold your soul in His heart. But, if you listen to the world, your flesh, or the devil long enough then you will take your soul from Him and give it to them. Who or whatever you LISTEN TO LONG ENOUGH will be the one that will influence your soul.

For it is written, “I will therefore chastise him (Jesus Christ) and release Him (Jesus Christ) For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feat. And they cried out all at once saying away with this man (Jesus) and release unto us Barabbas. Who for a certain sedition made in the city and for murder was cast into prison. Pilate therefore willing to release Jesus spake again to them. But they cried saying Crucify Him (Jesus the Christ). and he (Pilate) said unto them the third time why what evil hath he (Jesus Christ) done? I have found no cause of death in him; I will therefor chastise him and let him go. And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he (Jesus the Christ) crucified. And the voice of them and of the chief priests prevailed. And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required, (he listened to them long enough to appoint He did what they said)” (Luke 23:16-24).

God is the lover of your soul and He wants to be the one who influences your life. If you listen to Him in prayer, worship, and the reading of His word long enough it will change your life.

Keep your soul in God each day and you will be Blessed.

“The Weapon of I DON’T KNOW”

Thought for Today: The Weapon of I DON’T KNOW

You are going through something in your life, and you have been praying for the Lord to show up in the situation and make things better. Not only are you expecting Him to show up in your mind, you have an idea in your mind about how you think He will show up and fix the situation.

I want to inform you that, most of the time, God will not do what you thought He should do for your situation. As a matter of fact, most of the time God will not show up how you thought He would show up. Most of the time God will not use who you thought He would use to fix the problem.

Every time you begin to get in your mind about how you think God will show up in your life, all you are doing is delaying the answer that He has for you. “How do you know that, Pastor Erick?” For God, Himself, said in Isaiah 55:8, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

You may not like what I am about to say, but I am more concerned with your soul rather than your feelings. If you are in a situation and you are asking God to come into that situation, your relationship with God is not what you thought it was.

I want you to sit down and digest this spiritual truth found in Psalm 13:7-10, which says, “Whither shall I go from thy spirit? Or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there; if I make my bed in hell, behold thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.”

You need to know this truth, the minute you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit began to dwell on the throne of your heart. Jesus said in John 14:23, “If a man loves me, he will keep my words; and my Father will love him AND WE WILL COME UNTO him AND MAKE OUR ABODE WITH him.”

It breaks the Father’s heart when His children ask God “Where are you in the midst of my troubles?” The Spirit of the Lord says to you, “I told you that I will never leave you nor forsake you, even unto the ends of the earth,” Deuteronomy 3:16 and Hebrews 13:5.

God does not have to come to you when you are in trouble, for the Word of God says that “He shall call upon me, and I will answer him; I WILL BE WITH HIM IN TROUBLE (not, I will come to him in trouble, but I WILL BE WITH HIM IN TROUBLE); I will deliver him and honor him” (Psalm 91:15).

The way the world, your flesh, and the devil prolong the answer from God for your life is to get you to try to figure out HOW God is going to show up in the situation. I want to give you a powerful weapon for when the enemy questions how or when God will show up, what God will do, and who or what He will use to answer your prayers.

When the enemy begins to question the how, what, when, and where of God’s presence in your situation, the most powerful tool you can use against the torment is by saying this, “I DON’T KNOW.”

Religion will try to make you feel bad when you say “I DON’T KNOW,” because when you say it, it leaves the opportunity for God to show up how He sees fit. The Word of God says, “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of the strongholds. Casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:4-5).

If you want God to reveal Himself and His plans for you in your situation, and end the questioning of the what, when, how, or who, then grab the weapon of “I DON’T KNOW.” This releases God to show up in your situation when He wants and how He wants.

For it is written, “And it came to pass that while they communed together and reasoned, JESUS, HIMSELF, drew near and went with them, But their eyes were holden that they should not know him. And he said unto them What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another as ye walk and are sad?” (Luke 24:15-17).

Most of the time, when God shows up in your situation, it will never be how you thought it would. Grab the weapon of “I DON’T KNOW” by saying, “God, I DON’T KNOW how You are going to show up in this situation, but I trust You” and watch God show up and show out.

Be Blessed
