“You Have Your Reward”

Thought for Today: You Have Your Reward

There are many reasons why we as human beings do what we do. But there should be one reason and one reason only why you do your best to live your life according to the word of God. It may have started out early in your life simply because that’s what momma and daddy taught you, but there will have to come a time in your life where that can’t be the only reason. It may be because that’s what the church taught you, and that’s fine to start with, but there comes a time in your life where that cannot be the main reason. But one of the worst reasons that anyone says they are believers in the Lord Jesus Christ is simply to please the church.

I will just say it, if you just go to church so that people can notice that you are in the church, you are going to church for the wrong reasons and you have already received your reward. If you worship the Lord simply because you want to be seen as a worshiper, you have your reward. If you pray in public just to be heard and to be known as a prayer warrior, you have your reward. If you read the word in public just to be seen by humanity, then you have your reward. If you only help people to be seen as a helper in the eyes of the public, then you have your reward. I don’t know who I am talking to, but if you are trying to live a good life simply to receive a pat on the back, or recognition by those around you, then the spirit of the Lord says to you today “YOU HAVE YOUR REWARD.”

As a child of God, whatever you do, do it to show Him just how much you love Him. If you truly love God, honor your mother and your father not just in public, honor them in private and help them when no one is looking. The Father will reward you in public for honoring them in private. Jesus said, “Verily I say unto you (yes, he is talking to you) INASMUCH AS YE HAVE DONE IT UNTO ONE OF THE LEAST OF THESE MY BRETHREN YE HAVE DONE IT UNTO ME” (Matthew 25:40).

Read the word of God, pray, and worship in private when nobody else is around and the Lord will reward you in public. Take care of your home, treat others with respect, and honor all human beings especially when no one is looking, and the Lord will reward you in public.

Whatever you do in life, don’t do it so that man can pat you on the back and tell you how nice of a job you did. Don’t love your neighbors like you love yourself simply so that man can tell you how kind and thoughtful you are, because that pat on the back will be your reward.

If you are going to do anything in life, do it simply because you love the Lord thy God. Never do anything because you feel you have to; you must live this life to please God simply because you want to show God just how much you love and appreciate Him.  Jesus said “IF YOU LOVE ME KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS” (John 14:15). Whatever you do, be it in private or in public, know that the Father knows your motives.

For it is written, “Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, TO BE SEEN OF THEM; otherwise YE HAVE NO REWARD OF YOUR FATHER which is in heaven. Therefore, when thou doest thine alms do not sound a trumpet before thee (DON’T DO WHAT YOU DO SO EVERYBODY CAN SEE) as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, THAT THEY MAY HAVE GLORY OF ME. Verily I say unto you THEY HAVE THEIR REWARD” (Matthew 6:1-2).

God looks at your heart, and He knows the difference between those who are living to get glory from man, and those who are living a life to show Him just how much they love Him. Live your life, especially when nobody is looking, to please God and He will reward you in public.

Be Blessed.

“Looking for Jesus”

Thought for Today: Looking for Jesus

I know you may have heard for most of your life that Jesus is coming back for those who are looking for Him. I am not even going to try and say when Jesus is coming, Jesus himself said “But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only” (Matthew 24:36).

We have never seen days like the ones we are living in now. I would say if anyone were shocked about what is going on in the world today, they have not spent enough time in the word of God.

What is happening in our world today does not surprise God, and if you are a child of the living God, it should not shock you. The word of God says “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy. Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady (demanding) high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God” (2 Timothy 3:1-4).

Are YOU LOOKING FOR JESUS? Just because a person goes to church does not mean they are looking for Jesus to come back. Just because a person listens to worship music or reads the word of God does not mean they are looking for Jesus to come back. “How do I know if I am looking for Jesus’ to come back, Pastor Erick?” To look for Jesus to come back is to simply love Jesus so much that you anticipate the promise He gave you. “What promise is that, Pastor Erick?” That promise is found in John 14:3, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am there you may be also.”

Jesus knows who is looking for Him and He knows who truly loves Him. How does He know who loves Him? Jesus gave us the answer to how He will know if a person truly loves Him, or if they are just giving lip service, in John 14:15 which plainly says, “IF YE LOVE ME KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS.”

You are showing Jesus that you love Him when you love your neighbor as yourself. You are showing Jesus that you love Him when you forgive the unforgivable, love the unlovable, touch the untouchable, and by showing grace and mercy to those who do not deserve it.

You are showing Jesus that you love Him, and that you are looking for His return, when you pick up your cross daily (do not allow your feelings and/or emotions stop you from doing what God says). By living your life according to the word of God, it shows Jesus that you love Him and are anticipating His promise to come and share eternal life with you.

For it is written, “So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many, and unto THEM THAT LOOK FOR HIM SHALL HE APPEAR THE SECOND TIME WITHOUT SIN UNTO SALVATION” (Hebrews 9:28).

It’s not enough to say that you are looking for Jesus, you must show Him that you are looking for Him by living a life that is pleasing to the Father. Don’t live your life by the world, live your life by the WORD and know Jesus is not like man, HE keeps His promises.

Be Blessed

“The Bait of Satan”

Thought for Today: The Bait of Satan

As you experience God for yourself when you pray more each day, worship God in spirit and in truth, and read the word of God every day, the devil can no longer convince you that God is not real. And so, he begins to treat you like a fisherman out to catch fish.

The devil only has three hooks that he dresses up to lure you to bite down on so that, like a fisherman snatches a fish out of the water, he can try to snatch you out of your relationship with God.

You see, just like a fish out of water will die, you are being lured out of your relationship with God to cause you spiritual death. The enemy has been doing this to humanity since the beginning of time.

He baits his FIRST HOOK with the body of women and men. He dresses this hook up with drugs, alcohol, food, and anything that he thinks will tempt you with temporarily good feelings, no matter what it takes. In other words, the devil feeds on your emotions.

And because the hook is unnoticed, he lures you to react to your feelings and emotions, which allows him to pull you out of your relationship with God. This is what he did to Adam and Eve in Genesis 1:6, “and when the woman saw that the tree was good for food” (HOOK # 1 LUST OF THE FLESH).

The SECOND HOOK he dresses up to lure the children of God out of their relationship with God, is he dresses up this hook to make you think you have to have what you are looking at. Everything that looks good, ain’t good. As a man, you know you have a weakness for fine beautiful women. As a woman, you get weak in the knees for a nice good-looking good-smelling man.

The devil knows you have a weakness for sweets, food that you know your body cannot handle, so he sets these things in your face to look at just to lure you out of your relationship with God. Again, he did the same thing with Eve in Genesis 1:6, “And that it (that which God told them not to eat) was pleasant to the eyes” (HOOK #2 LUST OF THE EYES).

And the THIRD HOOK the enemy dresses up is with how much you know. You know you can do this or do that. You know that you are stronger than your feelings, you know that you are stronger than your emotions, you can do this on your own, you don’t need help. This is the same hook he used with Eve in Genesis 1:6, “And a tree to be desired to make one wise” (HOOK # 3 THE PRIDE OF LIFE).

Jesus avoided the bait of satan in all three lures (lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh, and lust of the pride of life) to lure Him out of His oneness with God in three words, “For IT IS WRITTEN.” For all that is in the world, 1 LUST OF THE FLESH, 2 LUST OF THE EYES, 3 and THE PRIDE OF LIFE IS NOT OF THE FATHER but is of the world.

Pray (communicate with the Father) all day, worship God in Spirit and in truth, and read the word of God every single day. This will keep you one with God and understand that the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations.

Be Blessed

“Too Many Options”

Thought for Today: TOO MANY OPTIONS

There is a war going on, and I am not talking about the wars and rumors of wars in this world. There is a battle going on for you soul. The world, your flesh, and the devil are throwing everything at you but the kitchen sink to rule over your soul.

Your soul is where your decision-making capabilities lay. Whoever or whatever influences you the most will have control over the life that you live here on earth.  Your flesh (feelings and/or emotions) is tempting you to just do what you feel. The world is telling you to just do what everybody else does. And the devil is tempting you to do the exact opposite of what God told you to do.

You may be struggling right now simply because you don’t know which direction to go. You may not like what I am about to say but I am only speaking the truth, you have too many options.

“What do you mean by that, Pastor Erick?” You are listening to your feelings, you are listening to the world, and you are entertaining the thoughts that the devil is placing in your head.

THE WORLD is pulling you in one direction, but you must know that you are a child of God. Jesus said, “They (this means you) are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth; they WORD IS TRUTH” (John 17:15).

YOUR FLESH (fear, frustration, anger, unbelief, hopelessness, agony, depression, doubt, and rage) is pulling you in 20 different directions. Jesus said “And if any man (woman) come after me (follow the type of life that I lived when I walked the face of this earth as a human being) let him (her) deny himself (herself), and take up his (her) cross daily and follow me (Jesus)” (Luke 9:23).

THE DEVIL is whispering all kinds of thoughts in your ear, but the word of God says, “he (the devil) was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own; for he is a liar and the father of it” (John 8:44).

Listen to me, as a child of God there is only one way you can overcome the temptations of all your enemies; it’s found in John 14:6, which says, “Jesus saith unto him, I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE; no man (woman) cometh unto the Father but by me.”

If you want to overcome this temptation that is attacking you right now, the worst thing you can say is “I CAN MAKE IT.” I know that sounds crazy, but we often try to fight the temptation on our own, and then when we realize we can’t take it anymore and we decide to make Jesus our last option.

Jesus said “apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:5). The very minute that the world, your flesh, or the devil come at you to tempt you, ask Jesus to help you right then and there. Don’t listen to the world, your flesh, or the devil because those are too many options.

For it is written, “The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished” (2 Peter 2:9).

Stop trying to fight temptation on your own. Call on Jesus to help you from the beginning and He will prevent you from falling into sin. Make Jesus your first option during temptation and none of the other options will even matter.

Be Blessed
