“Get It to Give It”

Thought for Today: Get It to Give It

There are times in life where what we need, money can’t buy. You may be going through that season where you have a roof over your head, clothes on your back, food to eat, a job, and all the material things you need.

You have worked hard, you have fought for what you wanted, you have done all you can, but you are finding it very difficult to maintain. Yes, you have peace, but you must fight to keep that peace. Yes, you have direction in life, but you must fight to make sure you stay on track.

Yes, you have understanding on what you must do, but you must continue to fight to make sure you know what you are doing is the right thing. With all this work, with all this maintaining, with all these keeping things together you are finding yourself tired.

All the material things that you have around you, the one thing that has been depleted in your life is strength.  You have the mindset that you must man up or that you need to be this great woman of faith. In public you are strong, but when you lay your head down at night you are physically, emotionally, and spiritually drained.

You cry out to God, Lord give me strength and the Holy Spirit of God says to you today, “I don’t just want to give you strength, I want to be your strength. I want to be the reason that you have peace, I want to be the reason that you have guidance and direction in your life, I want to be the reason that goodness and mercy follow you all the days of your life. I want to be your weapon of war against your enemies, I want to be your rest in the middle of the storms of life. I don’t mind giving you the strength that you are asking for, but I would rather be your strength.”

This is what is meant in 2 Corinthians 12:8-10, “For this thing I besought the Lord thrice that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, my grace us sufficient for thee; for My strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, THAT THE POWER OF CHRIST MAY REST UPON ME. Therefore, I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake FOR WHEN I AM WEAK, THEN I AM STRONG.”

It is when Christ is your strength in life you can continue, not only will you have the strength to go on, but you will also be able to help others go on in life as well. When God is your strength, it will open doors for them to obtain what you have. Not materials things, but the kingdom of God which is God’s way of doing things.

For the word of God says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33). Listen to me, there is nothing wrong with asking God for strength, but He does not just want to give you strength for this season that you are going through in life.

God says to you today I don’t want to ever have to give you strength again. I want to be your strength from this day forward. “I am the vine, ye are the branches; He (she) that abided in me, and I in him (her) the same bringeth forth much fruit; FOR WITHOUT ME YE CAN DO NOTHING.”

You cannot give somebody something that you don’t have yourself. God wants to reveal himself through you, the reason you are tired is that you have been showing people who God is in and for your life.  And God says to you, “Will you allow Me to show this world who I am through you? When I AM your strength, you will never be weary, and when I am your strength, it will give you the ability to strengthen others”.

For it is written “And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him (a man who was lame at the feet) with John said look on us. And he gave heed unto them expecting to receive something of them. Then Peter said, Silver and Gold have I none but such as I have, I give thee, in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk” (Acts 3:4-6).

You can’t give someone something that you don’t have. Later, in verse 16 Peter said, “through faith in his name he had made this man strong whom ye see and know”.

Remember it’s okay to ask God for Strength but He would rather BE your Strength so that you will have the ability to strengthen others around you. Let the Lord be your STRENGTH AND YOUR SHIELD; not only will it help you, but it will help those around you as well.

Be Blessed

“Sit Right There”

Thought for Today: Sit Right There

We live in a hustle and bustle world. A world where there is always some type of large amount of activity and/or work. This society teaches that if you are not doing anything, nothing will get done. You must get up and go, you have to run and get it, you have to keep moving, you have to keep going.

And this may be the very picture of your life. There is no time to sit still, there is no time to not do nothing. And then you lay your head down and wonder why in the world are you so tired. This get up and go, this got to get it done mentality has crept into your spiritual life.

You have been taught that you must always get up and fight the devil when he shows up in your life. You must always fight the world when they come at you, and you must fight the flesh (feelings and/or emotions) when they attempt to overwhelm you.

And the Spirit of the Lord says to you today that there are many times in life where you should just sit right there and let God fight your enemies. Wait a minute pastor Erick are you telling me that I should just do nothing, not fight the world when they come after me? Not fight my feelings and emotions when they are getting the best of me? And don’t fight the devil when he comes after me? Are you telling me to just sit there and do nothing?

No, I did not say sit there and do nothing. There are many times when the world, your flesh, and the devil come into your life, where you should just sit there and say what God said about the situation. The enemy wants you to get up and fight. They want you to get up and go handle things, they want you to get up and go deal with this situation. They want you to fight like everybody else is fighting.

But I say unto you the word of God says “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:4-5).

There are many times in life when the enemy attacks you, if you just sit right there and just speak God’s word about the situation the Holy Spirit of God will arise from the throne of your heart and fight that battle for you.

As a child of God, you must understand you do not sit in the same position that everybody else sists in. The world, you flesh, and the devil will lead you to believe that you are just like everybody else. But the word of God says the place that you are sitting in, the position that you have in life as a child of God is totally different that the place where everybody else in the world sits. How is my place any different from everybody else, Pastor Erick?

I will show you in the word of God, let’s take a look. Ephesians 2:6-9 (go read it for yourself in your own Bible) says, “And hath raised us (this means you as a child of God) up together and made us (again this means you as a child of God) SIT TOGETHER IN HEAVENLY PLACES IN CHRIST JESUS. That in the ages to come He might shew the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness towards us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God; not of works, lest any man should boast.”

As a child of God, you sit in a position of authority. The word authority means that you have the power (the ability to) to give the world, your flesh and especially the devil orders, you have the power (the ability to make decisions, and you have the power (the ability to) enforce that the world, your flesh and the devil into obedience by saying what God says about the situation. The word of God says the battle is not yours it’s the Lord’s (2 Chronicles 20:15).

Stop getting up and running around like a chicken without a head every time the world, your flesh, and the devil comes knocking at your door. Sometimes you’re just going to have to sit right there and say what God said about the situation and let God fight your battles for you.

For it is written, “For David is not ascended into the heavens; but he saith himself The LORD said unto my Lord SIT THOU ON MY RIGHT HAND UNTIL I (THE LORD THY GOD) MAKE THY FOES (enemies) THY FOOTSTOOL” (Acts 2:34).

Just because the enemy comes and knocks on your door does not mean you have to get up and answer it. Sometimes you need to just SIT RIGHT THERE and speak God’s word and let the Word of God answer that knock on the door for you. Be Still and know that He is God today.

Be Blessed

“Just A Servant”

Thought for Today: Just A Servant

As you grow in your relationship with God the enemy must change up his strategy against you. At first, he attempted to convince you that God was not real. But that boat can no longer float because you have experienced God in a way that you know in your heart that he is real. And that experience made you a believer.

It was not just something the preacher said, it was not just something you heard, and it was not just something you saw, but you experienced God for yourself; and the experience that you had made you a believer. For the Word of God says, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him (God) for he (she) that cometh to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.”

Once you became a believer in God, you believed that He could heal you, you believed that He could save you, you believed that He is your provider, you believed that He is your protector, you believed He is your way maker and miracle worker, you believed He is all knowing, all seeing, all powerful, and everywhere at all times.

And because you believe that He is God you now move up into your relationship with Him and you now want to serve Him. Not because you have to but simply because you want to. The experience you had with God makes you want to serve the Lord because you now understand this truth that Jesus spoke in John 15:5 when He said, “I am the vine, ye are the branches He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit; FOR WITHOUT ME YOU CAN DO NOTHING.”

You now understand that you need the Lord in your life to have a life and you want to do all you can to serve God in whatever capacity you can. You don’t mind being a servant of the Lord. I came by on my way to heaven to inform you that the devil had to change up his strategy against you.

Since the devil can no longer cover your eyes and convince you that God is not real because you have experienced God for yourself which is what 2 Corinthians 4:4 was saying when it said “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ who is the image of God should shine unto them”

His next strategy against you is to make you think that you are JUST A SERVANT. So many children of God have believed this lie that the devil has placed in the church. You hear it all the time, I am just a servant of the Lord doing His will. I don’t know who I am talking to but the devil is a liar.

You are not JUST A SERVANT. Did you hear me? You are not JUST A SERVANT. Please don’t take what I am saying the wrong way, there is nothing wrong with being a servant of the Lord; but there is so much more that you are and that God wants to reveal to you.

God made a way that you can know the heart of the Father through the Son by the Holy Spirit. There are secrets of the kingdom of God that the Father will not reveal to a servant. Relationships take time to grow. You don’t make it a habit to reveal all your heart to a stranger, right? But the more you get to know that person the more you reveal to them about you. That is the same in the kingdom of God.

Listen to me, God did not just want you to stay a believer, He wanted you to grow into a servant to show Him that He can trust you. And He does not want you to stay a servant to do all that He asks you to do. Once He sees that He can trust you as a servant, it is then that he will begin to open the secrets of His heart to you because of your servanthood.

Since the enemy can no longer convince you that God is not real, since the enemy cannot stop you from serving God; the world, your flesh, and especially the devil wants you to believe that you are JUST A SERVANT. But the Lord wants to take your relationship even deeper than that.

He does not just want you to be a believer, He does not just want you to be a servant. He wants you to trust Him and He wants to trust you with His heart. Believe it or not, the Lord Jesus Christ wants you to be His friend. YES, you read this right. He wants YOU (yes) YOU to grow from a believer to a servant to becoming His friend.

For it is written: “Ye are my FRIENDS, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth (from this point on) I call you not servants (you are not JUST A SERVANT) for the servant knowth not what his lord doeth; but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you” John15:14-15

The reason the devil wants you to believe that you are JUST A SERVANT, is because if you ever became a FRIEND of the Lord, the heart of the Father will be revealed to you and the devil will no longer be able to flood your heart and mind with his lies. Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. Be a friend of God today and watch your life begin to change right before your eyes. Be Blessed

“This is Why You are Blessed”

Thought for Today: This is Why You are Blessed

There are so many who say that they believe in the Lord Jesus, to a point where the word “believe” has lost its true meaning. It is easy for anyone to say “sure, I believe in Jesus,” because the world’s way of believing is something totally different than a person who truly believes. When the world says it believes in Jesus, they are saying that they hold something as an opinion, think, or suppose it to be true. They have heard enough about Jesus while growing up that they think that he could be real, simply because they have never seen Jesus but they have just heard so much about him.

However, there is something different about your faith in the Lord Jesus. You don’t know what it is but there is something about your relationship with Jesus that is different than others who just say they believe. And the devil is attempting to put you in the same category as everybody else who says they believe.

I came by to serve notice that you are not like everybody else; As a child of God, you are set apart. You see, Jesus said “Sanctify (set them apart) through thy truth; thy word is truth” (John 17:17). You may have never seen Jesus yourself, but you believe in the word of God.

This word “believe” does not have the same meaning to you as it does to the world. When a child of God says they believe in the Lord Jesus Christ they are saying “I trust in, rely on, depend on, and adhere to the Lord Jesus.” And the devil is whispering in your ear, asking, “how can you believe in a person who you have never seen?” This question begins to flood the mind with much doubt, simply because you don’t have the answer to that question. All you can say is “I don’t know, I just believe.”

And the Spirit of the Lord says to you today, “I will give you the answer to how you are able to believe in the Lord Jesus, even if you have not seen him.”  Your answer is found in John 1:1-2, “In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with God, and the WORD was God. The same was in the beginning with God.”

Later on, in verse 14 of the same book and the same chapter, it says, “And the WORD was made flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father full of grace and truth.”

You see, the reason you are able to believe in Jesus, even though you have never seen him, is because you know that the word of God is Jesus and Jesus is the word of God. So, when you say you believe in Jesus, what you are saying is that you trust in, rely on, depend on, and adhere to the word of God.

The world wants you to live your life by what you see, the flesh wants you to live your life by what you feel, and the enemy of your soul wants to flood your mind with doubt and unbelief.

But the word of God (Jesus) says we should walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). As a believer in the Lord Jesus (the Word of God), you do not live your life by what the world says, and THIS IS WHY YOU ARE BLESSED.

As a child of God, you are not led by your flesh (feeling and/or emotions) because the word of God (Jesus) said “This I say then, walk (live your life) in the Spirit and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh (you won’t be overwhelmed by your feelings). For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary the one to the other; so that ye cannot do the things that ye would” (Galatians 5:16-17). THIS IS WHY YOU ARE BLESSED.

The devil wants to flood your heart, mind, and soul with questions of doubt and unbelief simply because you have never seen Jesus for yourself. But the answer to the question that the devil has placed in your mind of “how you can believe without seeing Jesus for yourself?” can be answered by looking the devil in the eye and saying “Because Jesus is the word, and the word is Jesus. I may not see him with my eyes, but I know him in my spirit, through the word of God.”

The reason YOU ARE BLESSED is not because you see Jesus, but it’s because you believe the word of God, for Jesus is the WORD OF GOD.

For it is written, “Jesus saith unto him, ‘Thomas because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed, BLESSED ARE THEY THAT HAVE NOT SEEN AND YET HAVE BELIEVED’” (John 20:29).

Read the word of God every chance you get, it reveals just who Jesus is, even if you have never seen Him.  THIS IS WHY YOU ARE BLESSED.
