“God Asks You A Question”

Thought for Today; When God Asks You A Question

In this season of your life there are many questions being asked of you. “When will you do this? How will you do that? Can you go here? Will you be there? How can this be? How will you ever reach this? Who will help you get there?”

When it’s you questioning yourself, it is something that you have learned to deal with. But as others begin to question you, that is when you begin to become unglued, especially when they know you are a child of God.

You don’t mind them questioning you, but when they begin to question your faith when they do not even have any faith, when they begin to question your relationship with God when they don’t even know God for themselves, it is then that anger rises in you and you begin to argue and fight with them. Because, not only did they question you, but they lost their mind when they began to question your God.

Listen to me, when you begin to fight them on God’s behalf that is when they’ve got you right where they want you. God does not need you to fight for Him. He is God and He can take care of Himself. The real question is, why did the questioning bother you so much?

There is something within you that has disrupted your relationship with God, and the Holy Spirit of God is asking you the question today, “WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU?” Now, before you begin to try to answer this question you must understand this truth, God does not ever ask you a question that He does not already know the answer to.

When God asks you a question, it is something totally different than when you question yourself. When God asks you a question, it is different from when other people ask you a question. Because, when you question yourself, or when others question you, most of the time you don’t have the answer and they don’t have the answer either.

When God asked Adam “Where are you?” in Genesis 3:9, God knew exactly where Adam was. When God asked Adam in Genesis 11, “Who told thee that thou wast naked?” God knew exactly where Adam got the knowledge of his nakedness. When God asked Adam “Have you eaten of the tee, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?” God knew exactly what Adam and Eve had done.

“Then why did God ask them the question, Brother Erick, if He already knew the answer?” God asks humanity questions for two reasons, one to reveal to humanity what’s hidden deep in the heart of man, and two is to open up a dialog with humanity.

You see, after the fall of man, humanity has its idea of what, how, when and where. Then there is God’s idea of what, how, when and where. For the word of God says in Isaiah 55:8-9, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than yours.”

In the theater of your mind, you have an idea of how you think God is going to fix your problem, and answer your prayers. You have an idea of the what, how, when and the where of God.

But I came to remind you “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man (woman) but the end thereof are the ways of death” (Proverbs 14:12).

God is asking you a question; “How do you think I will respond? How do you think I will answer you? What do you think I will do in this situation that you are in? When do you think I will answer your prayers? Who do you think I will use to help you get out of this mess that you are in?”

You must know that God is not asking you these questions because He does not already know the answer. He is asking you these questions because He wants to show you the ideas and plans that are hidden in your heart. He wants to open up a conversation with you to hear your heart so that you can also hear His heart.

For it is written, “When Jesus then lifted up his eyes and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip. Whence shall we buy bread that these may eat? (He asked Philip a question) And this he said to prove him; for he himself knew what he would do” (John 6:5-6).

God is asking you a question today, not because He does not already know the answer but, because He wants to show you the thoughts of your heart and He wants to open up a conversation with you to reveal to you His heart towards you and your situation. Sit down and have a conversation with God today.

Be blessed
