“It Will Change You”

There are so many people who say they know God. As a matter of fact, even if they do not say they know God, they say they believe there is a higher power. And you see many people’s actions and hear their conversation, their life does not reflect that they have any knowledge of who God is whatsoever. The Word of God says, “They profess they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.” (Titus 1:16) How does one know if they really know God? As a matter of fact, there are times in your life where the world, your flesh, and the devil ask you the question, “Do you really know God?” Since they cannot convince you that God is not real, they begin to question if you know God. When a person says they know God, it means they have an intimate relationship with Him. It means they have experienced him in such a way that He showed himself real to them. And that experience will do one thing: it will change your life forever.

When you encounter God for yourself, nothing will ever be the same. You trying to live your life off of someone else’s relationship with God will not change you one bit. It may push you into trying to find your own relationship with God, but it will not change you. Well, Pastor Erick, how does a person know if they truly know God? There is one way you will know if a person has truly experienced God, or have an intimate relationship with God. They will change. When Moses was on the backside of the desert, his burning bush experience and encounter with God at Mount Horeb changed his life forever. (Exodus 3) When Elijah was hiding from Jezebel in a cave, he experienced God in a way that changed his whole attitude about facing her. (I Kings 19)

As a matter of fact, after the death of Jesus Christ, his disciples were found hiding because they thought the Jews were going to kill them. But something happened that made them come from out of hiding, and go out and tell the world that Jesus is Lord to the glory of God the Father. Something happened that changed these men from scary cats to roaring lions. They went from hiding to healing. They went from not saying nothing in public to shouting on rooftops. They went from weak men of faith to strong men of God. What happened that caused these men to go into a place one way and come out of that place totally different?

I will tell you what changed them. They experienced the risen Savior, Jesus Christ, for themselves. For the Word of God says,

Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, cam Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. And when he had so said, he shewed them his hands and side. (The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord when they experienced the risen savior for themselves.) Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. (John 20:19-21 [KJV] [emphasis added])

You see, you cannot convince anybody that Jesus is real unless you have experienced him for yourself. When you experience God for yourself, “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper . . .” (Isaiah 54:17 [KJV]) Your whole life changes from fear to faith. When you experience God for yourself, your life changes from what you cannot do to “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” (Philippians 4:13 [KJV]) When you experience God for yourself, you change from being a nobody to becoming a joint heir to the throne of God. When you experience God for yourself, you change from being like everybody else to being conformed into the image of Jesus, the Christ.

Listen to me! If there is an area in your life that is still the same and nothing has changed, stop where you are and ask God to let you experience him in that area of your life. Let me experience you as the healer, Lord. Let me experience you as my provider. Let me experience you as my protector, guide, and my way maker. The Word of God says, “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” (I John 5:14-15 [KJV])

The one way you, and those around you, will ever know if you truly know God (have an intimate relationship with God) is that there will be a change in you, simply because you have experienced God. There will be no change if there is no experience. For it is written, “God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear (honor) not God.” (Psalm 55:19 [KJV] [emphasis added]) Ask God to allow you to experience him today in that area of your life that needs a change. The experience will change your life forever.

Be Blessed!
