” More Faith “

Thought for Today: More Faith

There are many situations that come in our lives that make us feel like we need more faith in God.

When sickness comes upon humanity, we as believers always say to just have more faith. When finances are not how they should be, we feel like we just need to have more faith in God to provide for us. When confusion, fear and frustration, doubt and unbelief flood our minds heart and soul, we feel like we just need to have more faith in God to take control of the situation.

But, there is one thing that the enemy uses against the children of God that causes many of God’s children to be bondaged; And that thing is unforgiveness. Unforgiveness imprisons the believer and stops the mercy of God from flowing in and through the child of the most high God. It stops the grace of God from flowing in and through the believer of the Lord Jesus Christ, and, as powerful as the love of God is, unforgiveness even blocks the love of God from flowing out of the heart of the believer.

Whatever that person did or said to you, you need to forgive them because, not only are you preventing them from experiencing the grace, mercy, love, and forgiveness of God, but you are blocking all those things from God to flow in your own life.

I know you may be thinking, “Pastor Erick, you don’t know what she said to me. You don’t know what he did to me. It is just too hard for me to forgive them for what they did. I don’t know why, but I just can’t. I am struggling with this and it is too hard.”

I came by on my way to heaven to open the eyes of your understanding on one of the reasons why you are struggling with unforgiveness. It’s not just because of what they did or said to you, it is also because of who they are and what they meant to you. If a perfect stranger did or said the same thing you would shake it off and move on. But, because they had some place in your heart, be it a friend, family member, co-worker, you struggle with unforgiveness towards them.

This is a strategy from hell because the devil knows that if you do not forgive that person, the kingdom of God (God’s way of doing things) will stop flowing in and for your life. However, forgiveness is not just for them, but it is also for you. Jesus said, “But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses” (Mark 11:26). And, if the Father will not forgive you of your trespasses, then the love of God, the grace of God, the power and authority of God, and, most of all, the love of God will not flow in your life.

Listen to me, the reason why the world, your flesh, and the devil don’t want you to forgive that person for what they’ve done is because the enemy does not want that person to experience the pure forgiveness of God through you. The enemy wants to block the kingdom of God from flowing in and for your life.

Forgiveness is not just the releasing power of God from those who have offended you, but it is also the releasing power of God to flow in and for your own life.  You need to ask God to give you the faith to forgive them.

There is only one time in the Word of God when the disciples of Jesus Christ ask Him to increase their faith. It was not when they watched Him walk on water, it was not when He calmed the storm, it was not when He made the blind see, the lame walk, and the mute talk. It was not even when He raised the dead, but it is when He said FORGIVE; Not just the stranger, but forgive your brother.

It is written, “Take heed to yourselves if thy brother (especially someone who knows you and you know them) trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repents forgive him. And if he trespasses against thee seven times in a day and seven time in a day turn again to thee saying I repent thou shalt forgive him. And the apostles said unto the Lord INCREASE OUR FAITH” (Luke 17: 3-5).

The only time the apostles ever asked for more faith is when Jesus told them that they have to forgive their brothers. If you want grace, mercy, peace, joy, power and the authority of God to flow in your life, you have the key to unlock the prison to let all those things flow in your life; That key is forgiveness.

Free that person but, most of all, free yourself and ask God to give you the faith to forgive. Once you do that, you can watch the chains of unforgiveness fall off you and the door to freedom open to you so that you are free and the kingdom of God can move in your life.

Be Blessed
