“One Place”

There are some things you need to take place in and for your life. As a matter of fact, there is something you need to happen yesterday. You are waiting and expecting it to happen any day now. Someone is expecting their child to turn to God. Someone is expecting their husband or wife to be the man or woman of God the house needs them to be. You are expecting your financial situation to change any day now. You are expecting your health to get better or your job situation to get better. You are expecting peace to come into your life any moment now. You are expecting life to get better. I do not know who I am talking to but the reason you are so stressed out while you wait is because you are placing your expectations in the wrong place. As a child of God, you must understand this truth. There is Only One Place where you must set your expectations, and that is solely on God.

You see, you have been expecting your child to change instead of expecting God to change your child. You have showed your husband or wife you love them, and you are doing all you can to and for your marriage to work. You were expecting what you have done to change the marriage instead of expecting God to make the change in your marriage. You were expecting the money to come in from this person, or that job, or check from this source or that source, instead of expecting your provision from God. For the Word of God says, “But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, . . .” (Deuteronomy 8:18 KJV) You were expecting what the doctor said and did to heal you of your pain or sickness. Instead of setting your expectations on what God said. “. . . and with His stripes we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5 KJV) Please do not take this last statement as me saying medicine does not work or you should not take medicine prescribed by your doctor. You must have the mindset of “God, you said you would heal me. If you use this medicine to do so, Hallelujah. Or, if you choose to heal me supernaturally, Hallelujah. My expectations on being healed is solely on you because I understand this truth: “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9 KJV)

Unknowingly, you have been placing your expectations on man (humanity) and not on God. And every time you set your expectations on man (humanity) you are setting yourself up to be disappointed. Please do not misunderstand me. There are people in your life who mean to do you well. They want to help, but they are human. There is a chance they will disappoint you. The Word of God says, “Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.” (Psalm 60:11 KJV) Listen to me. If God chooses to use humanity to meet your expectations, that is His choice. If God chooses to meet your expectations supernaturally, that is His Choice. Do not let the world, your flesh (feelings and/or emotions), or the devil push you to place your expectations in life anywhere else. There is only one place you must place your expectations, and that is on, and in, God. He is the only one who will never fail you. He is the only one who will never disappoint you. He is the only one who will never misguide you. And, most of all, He is the only one who will never give up on you.

Do not set your expectations on the work you do. Set your expectations on the work God does through you. Because if we are honest with ourselves, we can even let our own selves down. God is the only one who is perfect. So, whatever it is you are expecting in your life and whatever you are expecting to happen in your life, set those expectations on God. For it is written, “My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my Expectation Is From Him.” (Psalms 62:5 KJV [emphasis added]

There is only one safe place to set your expectations in life: in the hands of God, the Father. And because His ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts, you never know How God will meet those expectations in your life. Expect God to be God today!

Be Blessed!
