“React or Respond”

Thought for Today: React or Respond

When the enemy of your soul attacks you from out of nowhere his goal is to get you to react to the attack instead of responding to the attack. There is a big difference between the two.

You see, when you instantly react to all the strategies of hell you move according to what you are feeling at that very moment, and the devil feeds on your feelings and or emotions. “How do you know that, Pastor Erick?”

The word of God says in Genesis 2:7, “And the LORD GOD formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” You were created from dust. Now take a look at what God told satan after he lured Adam and Eve out of the will of God by eating of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil; Genesis 3:14, “And the LORD GOD said unto the serpent, because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the filed; upon thy belly shalt thou go (look at this) and THE DUST shalt thou eat all the days of thy life.”

Listen to me, the devil wants you to react out of fear, frustration, anger, doubt, and unbelief, he feeds on that. The more you react to the strategies of hell the bigger the enemy gets, which will allow him to overwhelm you and eventually overtake you.

I don’t know who I am talking to, but that person lied about you TO GET A REACTION OUT OF YOU. That person manipulated the situation JUST TO GET A REACTION OUT OF YOU. That person said what they said JUST TO GET A REACTION OUT OF YOU.

As a child of God you have to stop reacting to the strategies of hell and listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit first and respond afterwards.

“How do you do that, Pastor Erick?” For example, when that person comes at you screaming and cursing, don’t react to what they are doing, but respond according to the word of God. The word of God says, “A soft answer turneth away wrath; but grievous words stir up anger” (Proverbs 15:1).

When somebody does you wrong, don’t REACT to what they did. The word of God says, “If thine enemy be hungry give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty give him water to drink. For thou shalt heap coals of fire up his head and the Lord shall reward thee” (Proverbs 25:21-22).

The world, your flesh, and the devil want you to react to all the things that they say and do. But the Father wants you to turn to Him and allow the Holy Spirit of God to direct you on how to respond to that person or the situation that you are in.

This is what is meant in James 1:19-20, which says, “Wherefore my beloved brethren (sisters) let every man (woman) be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath. For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.”

When the world, your flesh, and the devil comes your way, don’t REACT to what they are doing or saying. I know it’s not going to be easy, but just stop for a second and say “LORD, what is this?” And RESPOND according to how the Holy Spirit of God tells you to. That one moment of turning to the Lord will crucify your flesh (feelings and/or emotions) and glorify God.

For it is written, “A fool uttereth all his mind but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards” (Proverbs 29:11).

Feed on the word of God every day (read your bible), it will give you the ability to RESPOND according to God’s will, rather than REACTING to what the enemy is trying to get you to do.

Be Blessed
