“That’s Just Me”

Thought for Today: THAT’S JUST ME

There is something that you want to change in your life; a mindset, an attitude, a belief, a thought process, the way you talk, the way you act, the way you trust, the way you love.

You want to change those things and you thought by reading God’s word and believing God’s word those changes would come. But it just seems like the word of God does not work because nothing is changing.

The Holy Spirit of God says to you that the thing that is making the word of God ineffective in this area of your life is tradition. The word of God says, “For as he (she) thinketh in his (her) heart, so is he (she)” (Proverbs 23:7).

Without realizing or being aware of it, you have in the back of your mind that you have always been this way, that’s just who you are. You see, a tradition is the transmission of customs, or beliefs from generation to generation or the fact of being passed on in a certain way.

You may be saying, “Pastor Erick, I don’t have any traditions, so this does not apply to me.” Oh yea, well have you ever made this statement? “I have always been hot headed. I have always talked like this. I have always lived this way, I have always been anxious, I have always been a worry-wart, I have always been untrusting, I have always been afraid to do something different.

If you have the mindset that you have always been a certain way, you are living under a tradition. This is where the world, your flesh, and the devil want your mindset to stay. “That’s just you, that’s just who you are, that’s just how you think, that is just how you feel.”

Listen to me, the minute you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior everything changed. For the word of God says, “Therefore if any man (woman) be in Christ, he (she) is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold all things are new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

If you have the mindset that the way you think, the way you walk, the way you talk, the way you live, and the way you are simply sums up to “THAT’S JUST ME, That is who I am,  I have been this way all my life, I have thought this way all my life, I have lived this way all my life,” then I say to you my brother, I say to you my sister, you are allowing  the transmission of customs, or beliefs from generation to generation or the fact of being passed on in a certain way (tradition) to cause the word of God to be non-effective in and for your life.

The word of God says, “And be not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable and perfect will of God” (Romans 12:2).

You are a new creature in Christ, the devil is a liar becayse THAT’S NOT JUST YOU. The new you can do all things through Christ that strengthens you. The new you has power over all the power of the enemy and nothing by any means shall hurt you.

God is conforming you into the image of Jesus Christ, but if you hold on to your old traditions, you are preventing God’s word from working for your life.

For it is written, “Making the word of God none effect through your tradition which ye have delivered and many such like things do ye” (Mark 7:13).

God’s word works, His word will never return unto Him void, but you have to put away the mindset THAT’S JUST ME, and understand this truth that God will do a new thing when you let go of the old thing.

Be Blessed
