Thought for Today: THAT’S NOT WHY

There is a deception that has been used by the devil for years that has lured many people out of the will of God and into sin. Three words that have been entered into the hearts of many believers and have lured many into lies, deception, manipulation, control, fornication, adultery, theft, drugs, alcohol. 

I don’t know who I am talking to but you may be thinking about doing something that you know is not right with God, and the enemy is baiting you into doing this thing that you know is not right with three words: NOBODY CAN SEE.  

The word of God says, “Now the serpent was more subtill (crafty or tricky) than any beast of the field which the LORD God has made” (Genesis 3:1). The reason the enemy has to trick you into doing things that you know are not right in the eyes of God, is because he has no power over any of God’s children. 

I know you might not like what I am about to say but it’s the truth, the devil can’t make you do anything. You hear children of God saying “the devil made me do it,” but this does not line up with what Jesus said.  “I beheld satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold I give unto you (yes, you) power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you” (Luke 10: 18-19).

The enemy of your soul will try to convince you that NOBODY CAN SEE WHAT YOU ARE DOING, then he will flip the script and tell you the exact opposite and that God is watching you to judge you, God is watching you to bring the hammer down on you, God is watching you to beat you up. 

Religion has convinced so many people that God is sitting on the throne watching so that He can beat you for your mistakes and punish you for your sins, downfalls, and shortcomings. Can I tell you something? God is not sitting there waiting for you to sin or make a mistake.  

The word of God says, “But God commendeth His love towards us (this means you) in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). You see, God is not sitting on the throne waiting for you to make a mistake or sin, God is all knowing, all seeing, everywhere at all times.  

The reason the enemy is telling you that God is watching you is because he is hoping that knowing God is watching you will make you scared to live the life that God has for you.  Fear of falling short, fear of failing, fear of making a mistake, and fear of making the wrong choice; This lie that God is watching to beat you up has many children of God walking on eggshells, afraid to live.  

Jesus said, “The thief cometh not but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy; I AM COME THAT THEY MIGHT HAVE LIFE AND THEY MIGHT HAVE IT MORE ABUNDANTLY” (John 10:10). 

Listen to me, God is not watching you to wait and see if and when you will make a mistake so that He can judge you or beat you up. THAT IS NOT WHY GOD is watching you. For it is written, “Behold the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear (honor and respect) Him upon them that hope in his mercy. To deliver their soul from death and to keep them alive in famine” (Psalm 33:18-19). 

Don’t believe the lie of the devil that says nobody will see you. God sees you. And don’t allow the devil to prevent you from living an amazing life out of fear that God is watching you to punish you. God is watching you to love you, not to punish you.
