“Threatened by the Enemy”

Thought for Today: Threatened by the Enemy

As you grow closer to God, the enemy of your soul will begin to hurl all kinds of threats your way. The enemy of your soul will use anything, anyone, and any situation he can to threaten you to open the door of your mind so that fear can come and take over your heart, mind, and soul.

You may be asking, “Why me? I am just trying to get to know God better and live a life that is pleasing to God. I am not bothering anyone, I am not even trying to change anyone’s life, I am just working on me to be a better person.”

And the Spirit of the Lord says to you, “Ye have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you” (John 15:16).

The closer you get to Jesus the more you become like Him. This is what is meant in Romans 8:29 “For whom he did foreknow, He (God Himself) also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren”.

You see the more you become like Jesus the more you become a threat to the kingdom of darkness. And so, to prevent you from becoming more like Jesus the enemy hurls all these threats at you hoping that you will be overwhelmed by the threat of something bad happing to prevent you from to looking unto Jesus the author and the finisher of your faith.

You may be thinking “How is me getting to know Jesus a threat to the devil, Pastor Erick?” This is why the enemy is hoping that you will be overwhelmed by their threats. 1 John 3:8 says, “He that committeth (continues to live in) sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. (Listen to this) FOR THIS PURPOSE THE SON OF GOD WAS MANIFESTED THAT HE MIGHT DESTROY THE WORKS OF THE DEVIL.”

You see, when you get closer to Jesus Christ the more you begin to reflect the image of who Christ is, and the more Christ is reflected in your life the bigger the threat you become to the devil. Because greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.

Listen to me, don’t be overwhelmed by the threats of the enemy. When the enemy begins to threaten you the first thing you need to do is stop right where the threats are being hurled at you and praise God. “Why should that be the first thing I do, Pastor Erick? Shouldn’t I rebuke the devil, shouldn’t I fight the enemy or something?”

No! There are two reasons that you should praise God first before pulling out your sword (the word of God) and busting the devil in his mouth. One of the reasons why you should praise God first is simply because the devil is hurling threats your way. “Why do I need to praise God for that, Pastor Erick?” Because Matthew 12:26 says, “And if satan cast out satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?” The devil isn’t going after anyone who he already controls.  And the second reason you should just begin praising God is this, Psalm 22:3, “But thou art holy that inhabitest the praise of Israel (all his children).”

You see, when you begin to praise and worship God, the Holy Spirit of God begins to arise from the throne of your heart. “That’s all well and good, but what does that have to do with the devil threating me and my family, Pastor Erick?”

Here, Psalm 68:1-2 says, “Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered; let them also that hate him flee before him. As smoke is driven away, so drive them (the enemies of God) away; as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.”

When you praise God the Holy Spirit of God arises within you, and the enemy will take notice, and when you speak the word of God, the power of the Holy Spirit will be behind the spoken word of God and the enemy of your soul will have to retreat from hurling threats at you.

The enemy has selected you today to threaten everything about your life, but you were chosen by God from the beginning to live an amazing life. Don’t allow fear to overwhelm you by the threats of the enemy for it is written:

“And now LORD behold THEIR THREATENINGS and grant unto thy servants that with ALL BOLDNESS THEY MAY SPEAK THY WORD, by stretching forth thine hand (Lord God Almighty) and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of the Holy Child Jesus” (Acts 4:29-31).

Praise God when the enemy threatens any area of your life, then speak what the word of God says about that situation and watch God arise and your enemy be scattered.

Be Blessed
