“Turn Back to God”

Thought for Today: Turn Back to God

The last few days, months, and maybe even years have been very rough for you. You have found yourself stumbling through life, making mistakes, falling, failing, and in some cases out-right sinning.

And the enemy has been tormenting you and telling you that you need to get your life right before you try to pray. You need to fix all your mistakes before you read the Word of God. You need to clean up your life before you really get involved in the church again.

And you find yourself trying to do better, but it seems like things are only getting worse. You try to walk a straight line, but it seems like life is pushing you in all kinds of directions. You are frustrated, confused, scared, and beginning to feel hopeless.

Not knowing where to go, what to do, or how you are going to get back on track, you sit and do nothing. Listen to me, the unknown is the breeding ground for fear, frustration, anger, rage, doubt, and unbelief. The more you sit there and dwell on the unknown, the bigger those things that I just mentioned get in your mind, heart, and soul.

I don’t know who I am talking to, but I came by on my way to heaven to remind you that you are a child of the Most High God. John 1:12 says, “But as many as received him, to them gave He power to become the sons (daughters) of God even to them that believe on His name.” You are a joint heir to the throne of God. Romans 8:16-17 says, “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God; And if children, then heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ, if so be that we suffer with him that we may be also glorified together.” And you are the apple of God’s eye, as explained in Zechariah 2:8, “For thus saith the LORD of hosts; after the glory hath He sent me unto the nations which spoiled you; for he that toucheth you toucheth the APPLE OF HIS EYE.”

I was sent to remind you that even though you do not know what is going to happen, you have the one thing that the rest of the world doesn’t have. You have the ability to turn to the one who is all knowing, all seeing, everywhere at all times, and all powerful.

Yes, you made mistakes, yes you fell, yes you failed, yes you stumbled, and you may have even out-right sinned. But you need to know that the all-knowing God you serve knew you were going to do those things before you even did them. You did not surprise God when you sinned, repented, and returned back to Him for help.

You do not have to get your life back together before you return to God to receive His love and provision. For the Word of God says that while you were yet a sinner Christ died for you (Romans 5:8). The world, your flesh, and the devil will attempt to convince you that you are too far gone for God to help you and you need to clean up your life before He will even look at you.

The devil is a liar, you cannot clean up your life for God but, instead, you must return to Him and let Him clean up your life and provide for all that you need. God says to you, “Come now and let us reason together, saith the Lord, though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool” (Isaiah 1:8).

The last thing the world, your flesh, or the devil wants you to do is to turn back to God while you are afraid, frustrated, angry, lost about a certain matter, bitter, confused, hopeless, and in disbelief. Because, the minute you turn back to God, no matter how far you think you are from God the Father, He is only a turn-back away from fulfilling all your needs in life.

For it is written, “And he arose and came to his father (TURNED BACK TO HIS FATHER) But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him (no matter how far you think you are from God, He still sees you) and had compassion and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him. And the son said unto him, Father I have sinned against heaven and in thy sight and am no more worthy to be called thy son. But the father said to his servants, bring forth the best robe and put it on him and put a ring on his hand and shoes on his feet. And bring hither the fatted calf and kill it and let us eat and be merry; For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost and is found. And they began to be merry” (Luke 15: 20-24)

No matter how far the world, your flesh (feelings and/or emotions), or the devil make you feel that you are from God, the truth of the matter is that you are just a turn-back away from God showing you just how much He loves you. Repent, TURN BACK TO GOD, and watch not only the love of God be poured out in your life, but His provision, as well.

Be Blessed
