“Why Should You”

Thought for Today: Why Should You

You have made the decision to do your best to follow God’s word. You understand this truth that you are not perfect but that does not stop you from striving for perfection because the word of God says, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect” (Matthew 5:48).

God has granted you the peace that surpasses all understanding, and you need to know that the peace of God is not about being free from any trials or tribulations. God’s word does not say you will never have problems but, as a matter of fact, Jesus explains why He has given you His peace in John 16:33 when He says, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye SHALL HAVE TRIBULATION but be of good cheer I have overcome the world.”

You see, the peace of God is freedom from disturbance. “What does that mean, Pastor Erick?” That means that you will not allow nothing or no one to disturb your oneness with God.  Because when you stay one with God it assures you that God is in control no matter what. As it is written, “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us (you), who can be against us (you)” (Romans 8:31).

So, the enemy has to lure you down out of your relationship with God so that they would have a chance to do as they please in your life.

The joy of the Lord is your strength, according to Nehemiah 8:10, but the enemy uses people, situations, and circumstances to lure you down to their level so that you can give your joy away to receive the anger and frustration that they have.  You might not like what I am about to say but the enemy cannot take your joy away from you, you choose to give it away when you react to their words or deeds.

WHY SHOULD YOU come down to their level? The word of God says “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might” (Ephesians 6:10). But the world, your flesh (feelings and emotions), and the enemy tells you that you are not strong enough to do this or do that. My question to you is “WHY SHOULD YOU come down to their level?”

The word of God says, “God hath NOT given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7). But the enemy is saying “if that were me, I would be terrified of this, scared of that.” Again, I ask you “WHY SHOULD YOU come down to their level?”

Listen to me, God is doing a great work in you, and you need to be confident of this very thing, that “HE (which is God) which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6).

I don’t know who I am talking to but WHY SHOULD YOU step down from allowing the Hand of God to continue to mold you into the image of Christ? The world, your flesh, and the devil only want to lure you out of your relationship with God so that they can simply cause you trouble.

For it is written, “That Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me saying, come let us meet together in some one of the villages in the plain of Ono (which is lower than where you are currently working). But they thought to do me mischief. And I sent messengers unto them saying, I AM DOING A GREAT WORK, SO WHY SHOULD THE WORK CEASE WHILST I LEAVE IT AND COMMETH DOWN TO YOU?” (Nehemiah 6:2-3).

Don’t be lured out of your relationship with God by reacting to what people are doing or saying. They just want you to come down to their level so that they can have their way in your life.  Stay one with God by living according to His word and standard.

Be Blessed
